Gorey Week #5: The Gashlycrumb Tinies

Gorey, creature of habit, guest

There definitely was no shortage of clips to choose for this work, the most popular and well-known of Edward Gorey. Certainly it's also the most merchandised as many stores and websites can attest. Actually, it was a rather difficult time choosing from the multiple adaptations available on YouTube. Here are a couple of vids I almost went with:

GT as Operatic Tragedy: Verdi plus decent animation and sound effects make this rather lovely and in keeping with the spirit of Gorey's work.

GT as Macabre Cartoon: Also animated, but has a completely different feel.

But for sheer absurdity, nothing can beat the version embedded above, which I don't want to spoil because of its ... well, if you click, you'll see. Suffice it to say it's a translation of Gorey rather than a literal depiction. Hee.
